LEGIC connect24 scores a winning GOAAAL!

LEGIC’s annual premier event, connect24, showcased the future of identification management in access, IoT, hospitality, critical infrastructure and automotive applications (English only).

The event was successfully concluded on September 13th, 2024, at the StageOne event hall in Zurich, Switzerland. With over 250 enthusiastic participants from 145 LEGIC partners attending, the two-day, soccer-themed event included fascinating demonstrations and presentations on the future of identification and credential management in a wide range of access, IoT, hospitality, critical infrastructure, and automotive applications.

Day one of the event was hosted at the FIFA museum in Zurich and included great food, fun, and important lessons on leadership and vision presented by the charismatic Urs Meier, a former FIFA/UEFA referee. Using soccer’s famous penalty card convention, Urs drove home the importance of critical decision making, allowing conference participants to make important calls in real-world situations. This not only helps determine the correct outcome of a match, but also ensures the well-being of players and fairness of the game. To create a successful team, he emphasized that fair play, tolerance, respect, cooperation, and an effective vision combined with action are required for a team to achieve their common goal.

On the conference day, an esteemed line-up of LEGIC partners including Siemens, dormakaba, Sesamsec, Stay-N-Charge, ELATEC, EtuGate, EVIS and many others demonstrated and presented their state-of-the art solutions based on the LEGIC Security Platform for identity and access management. This included fascinating new technologies such as Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI), Ultra-Wideband indoor positioning (UWB), next-generation access solutions based on LEGIC’s newly launched neon-on-card credentialing technology, mobile access integrated into Google and Apple Wallets, secure neon Messaging, and the LEGIC Utility App.

LEGIC Experts such as Martin Buck, Head of Product Management, and Felix Pütz, BU Head Mobility & Smart City, as well as Andreas Manser, BU Head of CI & SI were of course on hand to present the company’s latest developments such as the emergence of LEGIC Orbit as a universal security anchor for mobile as well as smartcard applications, and the company’s core philosophy that digital integrity is a fundamental right.

A highlight of the morning was the panel discussion about the current state and future of wallet applications that was moderated by Lee Odess, a globally recognized leader in the access control industry from the US. Nine experts from industry leaders such as Siemens, Google, SwiftConnect, Autec, Deister Electronic and LEGIC discussed a wide range of topics including standards, varying needs of different vertical applications, the role of different players involved in credential issuance and management, and value creation beyond access control. Especially valuable was the review of the lessons learned after large-scale wallet access implementation projects at Siemens and their corporate offices, and at a large Financial Services firm.

Christoph Beckenbauer, LEGIC’s General Manager closed the successful conference day with a big thank you to the partners and conference participants with the words: “It is people who win the World Cup”.
